Wrestling -- "IT'S STILL REAL TO ME, DAMMIT!!"

A week or two back, someone over at Evan Dorkin's LiveJournal pointed this clip out. I'd been meaning to share it with you all, but I forgot about it until I came across it on my computer today. So, without further ado...

LO-FUCKIN'-L!!
I'll be damned if this clip doesn't make me laugh every time I watch it. =D

Dicey Distribution, or Why the RT:TSC Distibution Deal Shouldn't Be Rushed

Bank Of Kev, 3 May 2006, "YEAH, IT'S DICEY...":

I've often said that distribution is a very dicey business. What people do not understand is how dicey it can get. Even when you are a "success" [...] If you go for the quick buck or the quick deal you will often end up with a nasty surprise. It's a very dicey business folks...those who run rush their deals do so at their own peril. [more]

NOTE: "If you go for the quick buck or the quick deal you will often end up with a nasty surprise." Anyone up for another Robotech: The Movie (*ahem* Cannon Films *ahem*), or would you rather have a March of the Penguins (Warner Independent)?

Patience, my fellow Robotech fans, patience.

For those of you who've been calling for Harmony Gold to...

Just find a good distributor [that's what they're trying to do] & release that damn movie for GOD'S SAKES!!!!

WE DON'T CARE. [Really? You don't care about RT's quality and future success?] JUST RELEASE THE THING!

JUST SIGN A DEAL ALREADY!!!

RELEASE THE DAMN MOVIE ALREADY JEEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... know that The Shadow Chronicles is DONE and that it will EVENTUALLY COME OUT. When? When it comes out.

Can we all just relax now?

Private Rooms by Guido Argentini

For some reason, this book's been popping up from time to time in my Amazon.com Associate's banner -- the image of which has caused me to pop up! Sexy, sensual, suductive... tasteful.

From the book's inside flap:

Private Rooms is the result of an ambitious photographic project by renowned photographer Guido Argentini that took more than ten years to complete. All pictures were taken in the intimacy of closed rooms, ancient villas, modern apartments and numerous elegant hotels. Argentini plays with our notions of privacy and constructs a hidden erotic universe in which each image becomes a story with no beginning or end. While each photograph challenges the viewer to defy limits and enter forbidden territory, this is a collection that was clearly born out of a love for women and was completed only thanks to them.

"This day on Wikipedia..."

Inspired by Bunny (who was inspired by Kisa): "I gangraped kazahaya and took this meme from her before she regained consciousness...":

I concur, Tom: That's one sweet cover! -- UPDATED

Comics Reporter, Sunday Magazine, 30 April 2006, "Superhero Covers I Like, Episode Nine":

Herb Trimpe's cover work for Marvel varied wildly, even by the rough standards established by second-generation Marvel artist covers. ... [This] cover is boldly split in half, each half leaping out at the reader with non-comic book variations on black (dark gray) and white (ivory), the lettering and the title are in a way both pushed back into the art in a way that evokes the "event" status of the story, and the eye travels nicely up the back of the sabretooth tiger Zabu to an almost publicity-photo type scene between the Hulk and his guest-star. ... [more]

Reminds me of a Nick Cardy composition. Very striking! No doubt "jumped" off the spinner rack and newsstand.

UPDATE: Credit where credit's (probably) due...

Comics Reporter, Letters to CR, 1 May 2006, "Kim Thompson on That Herb Trimpe Hulk Cover From Sunday's CR Magazine":

As I recall at the time of that HULK cover Marie Severin was designing a great many of the Marvel covers. In fact, since (a) she'd been pencilling the HULK comic for several issues before that and had just passed the torch onto Trimpe, (b) it was inked by her brother and (c) as you say, it's completely atypical for Trimpe, I would put my money on her. Please help Palladium Books®! -- UPDATED

(Yeah, I know this is a little late in coming. But better late than never, right? Helping to spread the word... EhC)

It began here late last year: "A Call for Help - Can you help us track or recover goods stolen from Palladium?":

For legal reasons, I [Kevin Siembieda] can NOT go into the entire picture of who did what. It could cause problems with the current police investigation and (hopefully) impending prosecution. [...] In addition to other problems, this individual stole a number of items from both Palladium Books the company and me personally. Many of these items may have already been sold on ebay and via online stores and auction houses who were unaware that these items were stolen. [...] List of some of the most notable and identifiable stolen goods: [more]

Images lifted from RobotechMuseum.com.

Then, on 19 April 2006, President & Owner Kevin Siembieda posted an open letter, "Please Help Save Palladium from Going Under: A Crisis of Treachery":

At a time when Palladium Books’ future has never looked more promising, we have been dealt a crippling blow. For legal reasons, I cannot go into details about exactly what happened. Suffice it to say that betrayal of trust, theft, and embezzlement has inflicted what we estimate to be $850,000 to 1.3 million dollars in damages to Palladium. It is a blow from which Palladium cannot recover. At least, not without YOUR help. [...] [Of special note to Robotech fans:] Going public with this appeal may very well cost us getting the Robotech® license renewal. [...] How you can help: Purchase the limited edition print “A Megaverse® United" [...] YOU can make a real difference [more]
